India Visits Padmanabhaswamy Temple Ahead of 5th T20 vs New Zealand in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Ahead of the fifth and final T20 match against New Zealand, the Indian cricket team visited the famous Shri Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala. The match is scheduled to be played at the Greenfield Stadium on Saturday.

Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav, along with all-rounder Axar Patel, Rinku Singh, spinners Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, and Ravi Bishnoi, were seen seeking blessings in traditional attire before the match. Earlier, the team had visited Shri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Temple in Simhachalam near Visakhapatnam before the fourth match.

Recently, head coach Gautam Gambhir also visited the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain and the Kalkaji Temple in Guwahati during the ongoing white-ball series against New Zealand.

After losing the ODI series against New Zealand 1-2, Team India has taken control of the T20 series. India won the first match by 48 runs, followed by a 7-wicket victory in the second match and an 8-wicket win in the third, taking an unbeatable lead in the series. New Zealand opened their account by winning the fourth match by 50 runs. Now, India aims to seal the series 4-1.

In this series, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has been the top scorer, accumulating 179 runs in four matches at an average of 89.50. Other top performers include Abhishek Sharma with 152 runs and Ishan Kishan with 112 runs, both among the top five run-scorers.

India’s strong performance against New Zealand in the T20 series is expected to boost the team’s confidence ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026, which begins on 7 February.

India is placed in Group A of the T20 World Cup 2026 alongside Pakistan, the USA, Namibia, and the Netherlands. The team will start its campaign against the USA on 7 February.
