New Delhi, October 12 (DailyKiran) — India maintained a commanding position over West Indies on the third day of the ongoing second Test match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, with the visitors struggling under pressure. By the end of the first session on Day 3, the West Indies were 217 for 8 in 72 overs, still trailing by 301 runs.

India’s spinners dominated the session, claiming four wickets for just 77 runs in 29 overs. At lunch, Khary Pierre and Anderson Phillip were batting on 19 runs each, trying to delay India’s march towards a potential innings victory.
India’s Dominance with the Bat
Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat, India declared their first innings at 518/5, led by Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Shubman Gill, both of whom notched up centuries.
Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a superb 175 off 258 balls, hitting 22 boundaries.
Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 129 off 196 balls, including 16 fours and 2 sixes.
For West Indies, Jomel Warrican took three wickets, while Roston Chase claimed one.
West Indies’ Struggles Continue
Chasing India’s massive total, the West Indies batting lineup faltered early. The visitors lost John Campbell (10) with just 21 runs on the board, before Tagenarine Chanderpaul (34) and Alick Athanaze (41) tried to rebuild the innings with a 66-run stand. However, once Chanderpaul fell, the batting order collapsed under the spin pressure.
Shai Hope contributed 36 runs, but none of the middle-order batsmen managed to build on their starts.
Bowlers Shine for India
India’s spin duo — Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja — proved unplayable.
Kuldeep Yadav led the attack with 4 wickets, while
Ravindra Jadeja picked up 3 wickets, and
Mohammed Siraj chipped in with one scalp.
Having won the first Test in Ahmedabad by an innings and 140 runs, India now looks firmly set to seal a 2-0 series clean sweep against the West Indies.
