LSG Signs George Linde as Replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga in IPL 2026

New Delhi, April 10: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have announced the signing of South African all-rounder George Linde to replace Wanindu Hasaranga, who is sidelined due to injury. Hasaranga has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 following a hamstring injury sustained during Sri Lanka’s first match in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

LSG had acquired Hasaranga for ₹2 crore during the auction, but he has not yet recovered from his injury, making him unavailable for this season. George Linde will make his IPL debut, joining the team at his base price of ₹1 crore.

Linde has played 3 Tests, 4 ODIs, and 37 T20 Internationals for South Africa, scoring 403 runs and taking 35 wickets in the shortest format. With extensive experience in T20 cricket, having played 250 matches, LSG will be counting on Linde for strong performances in the remaining matches of the season.

So far in IPL 2026, Lucknow Super Giants have played 3 matches, winning 2 and losing 1. In their latest match, they secured a thrilling 3-wicket victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The match concluded dramatically, with 21-year-old Mukul Chaudhary emerging as the hero, scoring a remarkable 54 runs off 27 balls.

Batting first, KKR set a target of 181 runs, losing 4 wickets in their 20 overs. LSG chased down the target on the last ball, thanks to half-centuries from Ayush Badoni and Mukul. Ayush scored 54 runs off 34 balls, while Mukul’s unbeaten innings included 2 fours and 7 sixes.
