
Ahmedabad, May 24: Gurjit Kaur, a player from the Indian women’s hockey team, participated in the 75th edition of the ‘Sunday on Cycle’ event under the Fit India Movement in Ahmedabad. She praised the government’s initiative aimed at promoting fitness among the public.
Gurjit expressed her confidence that India will successfully host the Commonwealth Games in 2030. Speaking with reporters, she said, “It feels great to be in Ahmedabad. Many people are actively participating in the ‘Sunday on Cycle’ initiative, and it is quite popular among the youth. I encourage everyone to cycle every Sunday and, if possible, try to cycle daily. It’s wonderful to see people supporting this movement by coming out of their homes.”
Discussing the upcoming Commonwealth Games, Gurjit stated, “With the Commonwealth Games being hosted in India, our athletes are fully engaged in their preparations. I am confident that the event will be spectacular, as athletes are being provided with excellent facilities.”
Gurjit also urged both athletes and the public to support the teams during the Commonwealth Games and to showcase that India can achieve great things.
In addition to Gurjit, Olympic bronze medalist Gagan Narang, who competed in shooting, also attended the Sunday on Cycle event. He commended the government’s initiative and expressed hope that the Commonwealth Games 2030 will be memorable. Gagan noted that preparations are underway in Ahmedabad for the Commonwealth Games, and the city is being readied for the tournament. He emphasized the importance of sports science in helping athletes better understand their bodies and improve their performance.
