Delhi Police Detain CJP Leaders Amid Protests, Tushar Gandhi Held in Mumbai

New Delhi, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant move ahead of planned protests, Delhi Police detained several leaders of the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP) on October 10. Abhijit Dipke, the party’s founder, along with co-convener Saurav Das and spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka, were taken into custody directly from their flight upon arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

According to CJP, police officers boarded the aircraft just as it landed. During the arrest, Abhijit Dipke reportedly stated, “I came here to be arrested. Please arrest me.”

The CJP also announced via a post on social media platform X that Ratna Singh, the head of their legal affairs, was similarly detained.

In a related incident, Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, was detained by Mumbai Police while en route to August Kranti Maidan for the protests.

Earlier that morning, YouTuber Dhruv Rathi was taken into custody from his residence in Gurugram. Rathi had traveled to Delhi to participate in a demonstration organized by CJP, calling for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Amid these developments, Delhi Police heightened security measures. DCP Rajendra Prasad Meena stated that all personnel in Shahdara district were placed on high alert in response to the CJP protests. Seven border pickets were established in areas adjoining Ghaziabad, with the main Apsara border picket heavily monitored.

In northeastern Delhi, police implemented stringent security at the Bhopura border, conducting thorough checks on all vehicles. DCP Rahul Alwal emphasized the enforcement of Section 163, indicating that no permissions for gatherings had been granted in New Delhi. Officers were deployed to ensure safety and carry out checks, equipped with body cameras for real-time monitoring to maintain accountability.
