India Dominates World Yoga Championship 2026 with 102 Gold Medals

Ahmedabad, June 8: India showcased an impressive performance at the World Yoga Championship 2026, held on Monday. The host nation secured a remarkable total of 114 medals, including 102 gold, 9 silver, and 3 bronze, solidifying its dominance in the competition.

Japan finished second in the medal tally, winning 3 gold and 3 silver medals. Argentina claimed third place, largely thanks to its sole representative, Nabila Barraza, who earned 2 gold and 2 silver medals, propelling her team into the top three.

Despite Nepal finishing fifth in the overall standings, it emerged as the second most successful country in terms of total medals, amassing 52 medals (1 gold, 36 silver, and 15 bronze). Uzbekistan also delivered a commendable performance, securing 25 medals (1 gold, 13 silver, and 11 bronze).

The inaugural World Yoga Championship saw participation from 522 athletes across 79 countries, with 31 nations winning at least one medal. Among them, 10 countries managed to secure at least one gold medal.

India sent a robust delegation of 122 members to the competition. Athletes competed across six age categories: Sub-Junior Male and Female (10-14 years), Junior Male and Female (14-18 years), Senior (18-28 years), Senior-A (28-35 years), Senior-B (35-45 years), and Senior-C (45-55 years).
