Colombo, August 9: In a three-day warm-up match between India and Sri Lanka, held at the Nondescripts Cricket Club ground, the Indian team declared their first innings at 357 runs after losing six wickets.
On the third day of the warm-up match, India opted not to bat again and decided to declare their innings based on the score from the previous day. Devdutt Padikkal delivered an impressive performance, remaining unbeaten with a score of 142 runs off 164 balls, which included 18 boundaries. Ravindra Jadeja also contributed with a half-century, scoring 63 runs before retiring hurt.
KL Rahul, however, could not capitalize on a good start, getting out for 40 runs off 67 balls. Manav Suthar faced 90 balls to score 41 runs. Gurunoor Barar showcased his skills, scoring an unbeaten 36 runs in just 18 balls, hitting 2 fours and 4 sixes. Unfortunately, Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to make an impact; Jaiswal returned without scoring, while Pant managed only 2 runs. Dhruv Jurel was dismissed for a single run by Ramesh Mendis.
From the Sri Lanka cricket eleven, Asanka Manoj and Ramesh Mendis each took two wickets. Regular captain Shubman Gill did not bat due to a finger injury sustained during practice, which also kept him from fielding on the first day. KL Rahul took over the captaincy in Gill’s absence.
Earlier, the Sri Lankan team declared their first innings at 363 runs after losing eight wickets. Ravindu Rasanta was the standout performer, scoring 71 runs, while Nishan Madushka contributed 66 runs, and captain Sonal Dinusha added 52 runs. Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Manav Suthar each took two wickets for India.
