Virat Kohli has the record for the most matches captained by an Indian against Sri Lanka. He led the Indian team in 9 Test matches against Sri Lanka, achieving 6 victories while suffering only one defeat.
Mohammad Azharuddin ranks third on the list of players with the most matches as captain in India-Sri Lanka Test matches. He captained India in 8 encounters against Sri Lanka, winning 5 and drawing 3.
