
New Delhi, June 6: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian team for the upcoming T20 series against Ireland and England, as well as for the 2026 Asian Games. Shreyas Iyer has been appointed as the new captain of the T20 team, with Tilak Varma taking on the role of vice-captain.
Fifteen-year-old batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who performed exceptionally well in IPL 2026, has earned a spot in both series and the Asian Games. Harshit Rana and Ravi Bishnoi have made a return to the squad. Prince Yadav has also been included for the T20 series against England and Ireland, though he was not selected for the Asian Games. Notably, Suryakumar Yadav, who led India to victory in the T20 World Cup 2026, has not been named in any team.
For the Ireland and England series, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson will serve as opening batsmen. Ishan Kishan and Shivam Dube have also been included in the team. Iyer will take on the captaincy responsibilities, while Tilak has been appointed as vice-captain. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Axar Patel have also made the squad. The fast bowling attack will be led by Mohammed Siraj, supported by Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, and Prince Yadav.
In the Asian Games squad, Jasprit Bumrah has been included, while Mohammed Siraj was not selected for this tournament. The Indian team is set to play two T20 matches against Ireland and a five-match T20 series against England.
