Imran Masood Raises Alarm Over EVM Incidents in Bengal, Calls for National Awareness

Saharanpur, June 14: Congress MP Imran Masood has expressed serious concerns regarding the alleged misuse of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). He stated that recent events in the country raise alarms about the democratic system and emphasize the need for public awareness. Masood criticized the BJP government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign trips, and the central government’s policies, advocating for stronger opposition unity under Rahul Gandhi‘s leadership.

In a conversation, Masood remarked, “The country must awaken now. The incidents in Bengal and Madhya Pradesh indicate that democracy is losing its significance. If democracy ceases to exist, the voice of the poor will vanish. It is evident that the nation is heading towards the demise of democracy.”

Referring to the burning of 4,000 EVMs used in the West Bengal assembly elections, he stated, “EVMs have become symbols of tyranny and chaos. When electoral irregularities arise, questions are raised about EVMs. Now, they have been set ablaze. This situation is grave. Such incidents are not a good sign for democracy. The country needs to reflect on where this is all heading.” He added, “Wherever such incidents occur, the government must take responsibility.”

When asked about opposition unity and Akhilesh Yadav’s statements, Masood said, “It is up to Akhilesh Yadav to decide, but under the current circumstances, opposition parties must unite. A strong fight against these conditions can only be led by Rahul Gandhi. The real battle will be under his leadership. Disparate actions will yield no benefit.”

On foreign policy and international issues, he criticized the central government, stating, “The government appears incapable of making tough decisions in various matters.”

Regarding questions about Prime Minister Modi’s foreign trips, he emphasized, “The Prime Minister can go anywhere, but it is crucial to focus on the state of the country.”
