Bhopal, August 28: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has urged farmers across the state to register for the Digital Farmer ID. This initiative, which began on August 20, aims to simplify the registration process with government officials visiting farmers’ homes.
The Chief Minister stated that government teams are assisting farmers in creating their digital identities and encouraged all farmers to take advantage of this facility.
Yadav emphasized that the Farmer ID will provide farmers with a reliable digital identity, facilitating timely and personal access to agricultural information and government services.
He explained that similar to the Aadhaar card, the Farmer ID is designed to ensure timely and trustworthy access to agricultural information and services. This ID will serve as a dependable digital identity for farmers.
The Farmer ID is being developed under the Digital Agriculture Mission, a comprehensive initiative aimed at expanding digital infrastructure and services in the agricultural sector. It will be linked to critical farmer-related information, including land records, livestock ownership, sown crops, and received benefits.
The integrated digital identity is expected to enhance access to government schemes and agricultural services, making it more reliable and efficient.
The registration process in Madhya Pradesh commenced on August 20, with ground-level government teams assisting farmers. Yadav noted the need to implement the digital revolution seen in other sectors within agriculture as well.
He remarked that the digital revolution under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership has brought significant changes in governance and service delivery through digital identity, secure payments, and seamless transactions in recent years.
The Digital Agriculture Mission includes building digital public infrastructure, conducting digital crop estimation surveys, and adopting digital initiatives by both central and state governments, as well as agricultural education and research institutions.
Under this initiative, the state government is expanding farmer-centric digital public infrastructure to rural and individual farmer levels. Pilot projects for creating farmer identification cards and testing digital crop surveys have already been conducted in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu.
The Madhya Pradesh government has now begun implementing the Farmer ID campaign by providing assistance door-to-door, and the Chief Minister has urged farmers to participate in the registration process.
