ICC Rejects PCBs Demands Amid Ongoing Cricket Negotiations

New Delhi, February 9: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reportedly dismissed three major demands put forth by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). According to media reports, the PCB sought to reconsider its decision to boycott matches against India, presenting several requests to the ICC.

This development occurred during ongoing discussions between the two bodies. Pakistan had previously refused to play against India in the T20 World Cup 2026 match scheduled for February 15 in Colombo.

The PCB demanded a bilateral series with India, which the ICC rejected, stating that such matters do not fall under its jurisdiction, even within the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.

Additionally, the PCB proposed a tri-series involving India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, but the ICC clearly turned down this request.

The PCB stood firm in its demands, supported by officials from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), who were also present at the meeting.

One of the PCB’s requests was for India to tour Bangladesh later this year for a series that was postponed last year. However, the ICC reiterated that it cannot intervene in decisions related to bilateral series.

Meanwhile, the PCB’s demand for Bangladesh to be compensated with an ICC event, due to the relocation of the Women’s T20 World Cup from Bangladesh to Dubai last year, was considered. Bangladesh is likely to be granted hosting rights for the upcoming Under-19 World Cup.

Reports indicate that one of Pakistan’s main demands is for Bangladesh to continue receiving its share of ICC revenue. However, the ICC has already decided not to penalize Bangladesh separately.

The governing body has given the PCB 24 hours to make a final decision. The matter now rests in the hands of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is expected to meet with the PCB chairman on Monday evening. A final decision is anticipated soon.
