ICC President Jay Shah Extends Navratri Wishes, Encourages Strength Through Challenges

New Delhi, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : International Cricket Council (ICC) President Jay Shah has extended his warm wishes to devotees as the Sharadiya Navratri festival begins this Sunday. He encouraged people to draw inspiration from Goddess Durga during this auspicious time.

In a message shared on X, Shah stated, “May the blessings of Maa Durga inspire us to embrace every challenge with courage and every opportunity with hope.”

His message highlighted the enduring spiritual significance of the festival, where devotees invoke Goddess Durga and her nine forms, collectively known as Navadurga, seeking strength, well-being, and prosperity.

The Sharadiya Navratri, celebrated in the Hindu lunar month of Ashwin, commences with the installation of a Kalash, symbolizing the start of auspicious times. Across the nation, homes and temples are being prepared for the festivities, as devotees engage in prayers and traditional rituals to seek the blessings of the goddess.

The first day of the festival is dedicated to Devi Shailputri, regarded as the first form of Durga. Her name translates to “daughter of the mountains,” and devotees worship her seeking strength, stability, and well-being.

Throughout the festival, each day is dedicated to a different form of the goddess, with various regions observing distinct religious customs. Fasting, devotional ceremonies, and special prayers are integral to this celebration, reflecting the faith and traditions associated with the occasion.

This year, the final phase of the nine-day festival, known as Mahanavami, will take place on October 19, followed by Vijayadashami on October 20. Also referred to as Dussehra, Vijayadashami symbolizes the victory of good over evil and marks the conclusion of the festive season.
