Hyderabad Police Hunt for Suspects in Lawyers Targeted Killing

Hyderabad, May 24: Hyderabad police have launched a manhunt for four suspects allegedly involved in the targeted killing of Khwaja Moizuddin, a lawyer at the Telangana High Court. The suspects were reportedly seen in a speeding SUV used during the attack.

Four specialized teams are actively searching for the suspects, whose identities were captured on CCTV footage. Initial investigations reveal that the assailants used a vehicle without a license plate to carry out the attack on Saturday.

CCTV footage indicates that the suspects lay in wait near the victim’s residence. As Moizuddin entered his car, they ambushed him. The incident occurred near his home in the Masab Tank area, located in the heart of the city.

According to police, Moizuddin was sitting in his car around 4:45 AM when a speeding SUV collided with him from behind. The impact caused him to fall onto the road, resulting in severe injuries. The attackers then fled the scene in the Scorpio vehicle. He was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Initially classified as a ‘hit-and-run’ case, the investigation took a turn following a family complaint and the review of CCTV footage. Police have now registered a murder case, suspecting connections to disputes over Waqf land.

Authorities believe the attack was premeditated, with the assailants surveilling the victim’s home for three days prior to the incident. Moizuddin was a senior lawyer with nearly 35 years of experience practicing at the High Court and City Civil Court.

Police suspect that individuals involved in ongoing disputes over Waqf land in Malapet and other areas of Hyderabad may be connected to this case. Moizuddin’s family has identified two individuals allegedly linked to the legal battles over the contested Waqf lands.

His son, Farhan, who is also a lawyer, informed the media that his father had received threats from two individuals involved in the land disputes. Farhan revealed that his father had been attacked five times previously. He claimed that one of the suspects visited his father’s office months ago, issuing a ‘final warning’ regarding the legal matters his father was handling.
