Murshidabad, May 4: The results of the West Bengal Assembly elections will be announced on Monday. Preparations at the counting centers are complete, with the vote counting set to begin at 8 AM. Humayun Kabir, founder of the Upliftment Party (AJYUP), expressed confidence that the election results will be favorable.
In a conversation, Kabir stated, “Everything is in order at the polling centers. The Election Commission has made sound decisions regarding the counting process, which is a positive step. Political parties or candidates should not face any issues.”
He emphasized that the first 4-5 hours of counting will be crucial. Election Commission officials must conduct the counting accurately to avoid any complications. Kabir also mentioned that the party’s agents have already arrived at the counting centers, ensuring that everything is proceeding smoothly.
On Monday, results for 293 out of 294 Assembly seats in West Bengal will be declared. Voting took place in two phases on April 23 and April 29. The first phase saw a turnout of 93.19% across 152 seats, while the second phase recorded 92.90% across 142 seats. However, a re-poll will be conducted in Falta.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress is striving for a fourth consecutive term, facing stiff competition from the BJP. The CPI(M) and Congress are attempting to regain their footing after nearly being wiped out in the 2021 Assembly elections, while smaller parties like Kabir’s AJYUP are also in the fray.
