Many individuals report increased itching, dandruff, and hair loss during this season. The primary reason is that sweat does not dry quickly on the scalp, leading to persistent moisture. This moisture, combined with oil and dirt, can harm the scalp.

From a scientific perspective, sweat contains water, salt, and lactic acid. When sweat lingers on the scalp, it disrupts the scalp’s balance. The skin on our head has tiny openings called pores, which are connected to hair roots. When sweat and oil clog these pores, the hair roots do not receive adequate nourishment, causing hair to weaken and break.

Lactic acid in sweat can weaken the hair’s outer layer, making it appear dry and lifeless. Prolonged exposure to this issue can weaken hair roots, leading to increased hair fall. Sometimes, an unpleasant odor from the scalp can occur as sweat and bacteria combine to produce a smell.

To avoid these problems, it is essential to keep the scalp clean and cool. A light oil massage can help; it enhances blood circulation, allowing oxygen and nutrients to reach the hair roots more effectively. Natural oils like amla, rich in antioxidants and vitamin C, protect scalp cells from oxidative stress and maintain hair strength.

Staying hydrated is also crucial. Insufficient water intake can lead to a dry and imbalanced scalp. Therefore, drinking enough water daily is vital. Water helps eliminate toxins from the body and keeps the scalp clean.

Aloe vera is another beneficial remedy. It cools the scalp and balances moisture levels. It can be applied directly as a gel, reducing itching and providing a refreshing feeling. Aloe vera also inhibits bacterial growth.

Using apple cider vinegar is considered advantageous as well. Mixing it with water helps maintain scalp balance and reduces excess oil, gradually alleviating dandruff issues.

Rose water is an excellent natural solution too. It cools the scalp and leaves a pleasant fragrance. It can be used as a spray to reduce sweat odor and stickiness.

Additionally, attention to hairstyling is important. Tight hairstyles or excessive use of heat-styling tools can increase scalp temperature and sweating. Opting for loose and light hairstyles allows air to circulate freely to the scalp.

Diet also directly affects scalp health. Spicy foods, tea, coffee, and junk food can raise body heat, leading to increased sweating. Instead, consuming fruits, green vegetables, nuts, and seeds helps keep the body cool and the scalp healthy.
