Mumbai, April 23: Honor has officially launched a compact version of its 13.3″ MagicPad 3 Pro, which first appeared in China last October. This new model offers a smaller screen size but boasts an enhanced display and a more portable design. Depending on user preferences, this trade-off may be worthwhile.
The display is the standout feature. While the 13.3-inch variant uses an IPS panel with a peak brightness of 1,100 nits, the new model features a 165Hz OLED panel that can reach up to 3,000 nits. This significant upgrade brings the usual OLED benefits, including deeper blacks and improved contrast. The bezels are impressively slim at 3.9mm, and it includes 5,280Hz PWM dimming for more comfortable long-term viewing. Overall, this is undoubtedly a superior screen.
Performance remains top-tier. The tablet is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, just below the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 found in the larger model. While this may seem like a downgrade on paper, the difference will primarily manifest in demanding tasks such as gaming or complex video editing. For everyday activities like streaming, the enhanced display compensates for the slightly lower processing power, assuming high performance isn’t a priority. Gaming features, including super-resolution, are still included.
The size reduction also enhances portability. At just 4.8mm thick and weighing 450 grams, it is noticeably slimmer and lighter than the 13.3-inch version, which measures 5.8mm and weighs 595 grams. However, this reduction comes with a smaller battery, decreasing from 12,450mAh to 10,100mAh. While still respectable, heavy users should consider this factor.
Honor is also focusing on productivity with this model. It includes a PC mode, support for external displays, and a keyboard folio accessory is expected soon.
Pricing and Availability:
The MagicPad 3 Pro 12.3″ is currently available for purchase in China. Pricing starts at CNY 3,999 (approximately $585) for the 8GB and 256GB version, rising to CNY 5,699 for the 16GB and 512GB model.
As with the 13.3″ version, there is no information on global availability yet. This may be due to the existing global release of the MagicPad 4, which features MagicOS 10 and nearly identical hardware to the MagicPad 3 Pro 12.3″.
