Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and among the top five global silver producers, marked a strong presence at the 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025 with its high-impact awareness campaign, ‘Zinc Against Rust’. The company’s engaging showcase at the Mining Pavilion attracted over one lakh visitors during the event.

The campaign was designed to spread awareness about the importance of galvanisation in protecting vehicles, infrastructure and everyday products from corrosion. The activation received enthusiastic participation from visitors across all age groups and successfully created a strong emotional connect.

A vintage Priya scooter was placed as a visual centrepiece, drawing instant attention and engagement. The innovative display showcased the scooter structure in two contrasting halves — one galvanised and the other non-galvanised — clearly demonstrating how zinc galvanisation protects surfaces from rust and corrosion, ensuring long-term durability and sustainability.

Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Mines, Farida Naik, praised the campaign and said that ‘Zinc Against Rust’ was an ideal example of public awareness outreach. She noted that the activation was outstanding in its clarity, engagement and ability to connect with citizens, effectively turning a technical concept into meaningful learning and emerging as a key educational attraction at the Mining Pavilion.

To further enhance public understanding of corrosion and galvanisation, Hindustan Zinc conducted on-ground interactive sessions where visitors answered simple questions on the role and affordability of zinc. The response was highly encouraging, with more than 2,000 participants completing the quiz, offering valuable insights into public awareness on zinc’s role in protecting steel.

Commenting on the showcase, Hindustan Zinc CEO Arun Mishra said that the company’s objective at IITF this year was to make the essential concept of galvanisation simple, visual and deeply understandable for the public. He said the ‘Zinc Against Rust’ activation powerfully highlighted the importance of corrosion protection not only in daily life but also in building national infrastructure and contributing to a developed India. He added that the strong public response reinforces the urgent need for wider awareness on galvanisation.

In addition to the galvanisation awareness drive, Hindustan Zinc’s pavilion featured several other attractions, including an RFID-enabled interactive installation on India’s Critical Mineral Mission and the role of key minerals in the global energy transition, an AR-VR mine tour offering a virtual experience of the Rampura Agucha mine and Chanderiya Lead-Zinc Smelter, and a product zone showcasing special high-grade zinc, 99.997 percent pure silver and EcoZen, Asia’s first low-carbon green zinc. Products from the company’s flagship social impact initiatives, Sakhi and Upaya, were also displayed, highlighting its commitment to community empowerment and rural livelihoods.

Hindustan Zinc’s participation at IITF 2025 once again underlined its commitment to supporting India’s Critical Mineral Mission, promoting corrosion prevention and material safety, and advocating long-term, sustainable infrastructure solutions for a Viksit Bharat.
