Ujjain, April 2: Following the success of ‘Dhuraandhar-2’, actor Rakesh Bedi, who portrayed the politician ‘Jameel Jamali’, has commenced shooting for new projects.
Bedi arrived in Ujjain, known as the city of Mahakal, to attend a ceremony. During the event, he discussed his preparation for the role and clarified that there will be no ‘Dhuraandhar-3’.
Reflecting on the success of ‘Dhuraandhar-2’, Bedi stated, “The film has been a blockbuster hit and is performing well at the box office. However, the concept and direction are credited to Aditya Dhar. We, as actors, simply executed the roles we were given, but the real effort belongs to Aditya Dhar.”
Bedi dedicated significant effort to his character ‘Jameel Jamali’. He emphasized that every role requires hard work. “When we see Virat Kohli hitting a six, it seems easy, but it’s not. Similarly, preparing for each character demands a lot of effort,” he explained. He also mentioned that in the film, Ranveer Singh is portrayed as the true hero, stating, “All characters played their roles as demanded. My character was there to support and save Ranveer Singh, as every spy needs someone to back them up in another country.”
Discussing his early career, Bedi shared, “My father wanted me to pursue IIT, and I even attempted the entrance exam. However, I only knew the answer to question number seven out of thirty-five. I realized I wasn’t cut out for it, and my father didn’t pressure me. That’s why I left IIT to become an actor. I give my children the same freedom to choose their paths.”
When asked about portraying the negative character in ‘Dhuraandhar-2’, Bedi said, “Aditya Dhar believed I could take on this role, so I was selected. I didn’t play the typical villain seen in Indian cinema with a menacing look; instead, I was crafted as a cunning villain with a ‘you are my child’ persona.”
Looking ahead, Bedi revealed he will appear in two upcoming projects: Varun Dhawan’s film ‘Hai Jawani to Ishq Hona Hai’ and a series titled ‘Raakh’ on Prime Video. Both projects have nearly completed shooting, and announcements regarding their release will be made soon.
