Bhopal, April 9: A woman in Bhopal successfully averted a serious crime on Wednesday. During a street altercation, she confronted an armed assailant and prevented him from firing a weapon.
The incident occurred in the Bag Umrao Dulha area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Aishbagh police station.
According to police reports, a man was standing by the roadside while the woman was seated on her scooter. At that moment, another individual attempted to turn his motorcycle, allegedly brushing against the scooter, which sparked a dispute.
What began as a minor disagreement quickly escalated. The suspect, identified as Dilawar Khan, dismounted his motorcycle and brandished a pistol.
Seeing the weapon, the woman bravely confronted him and pushed him away, preventing him from firing. Police stated that her actions were crucial in averting the incident.
The assailant retreated briefly but soon fired a shot into the air, causing panic in the area. He then fled the scene.
The entire event was captured on nearby CCTV cameras, aiding police in identifying the suspect. Authorities revealed that the accused has multiple cases registered against him at various police stations.
Sandeep Pawar, the officer in charge of Aishbagh police station, stated that teams have been deployed to apprehend the suspect.
“We have identified him through CCTV footage. Raids are being conducted at several locations, and efforts to arrest him are ongoing,” he said.
Despite the seriousness of the incident, no official complaint has been filed yet. Officials are also working to locate the victims seen in the footage.
