Jaipur, 25 August (Kiran News): Continuous heavy rainfall has severely affected normal life in many parts of Rajasthan. Several cities, towns, and villages are experiencing flood-like conditions due to persistent rain. Low-lying areas have become waterlogged, roads and bridges are submerged, and incidents of house collapses and drowning have further increased the difficulties of residents. On Sunday, Nagaur recorded the highest rainfall with 7 inches. Heavy rainfall was also reported in Ajmer, Bikaner, Dausa, Hanumangarh, Jodhpur, Jhunjhunu, Sirohi, and other districts.

The Meteorological Department has predicted the spell of heavy rain to continue in the state until 27 August. On Monday, an orange alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in Sirohi, Rajsamand, and Udaipur. Thirteen districts are under a yellow alert. Due to these alerts, school holidays of one to three days have been declared in 19 districts including Jaipur and Sikar. In the past 24 hours, several rain-related incidents have occurred. In Churu district’s Poolasar village, two teenagers drowned while bathing in a pond. In Nagaur district’s Bacchakhaada village, two people lost their lives in a house collapse, and in Loharpura, another old house also collapsed. In Udaipur’s Dabok area, four children drowned in water-filled mines. In Jhalawar, a car was swept away on the Kalisindh river bridge, resulting in the deaths of two people, while a government teacher and another person are missing.
In the past 24 hours, rainfall was recorded as follows: Nagaur 173 mm, Deh 137 mm, Jayal 112 mm, Kheenvsar 99 mm, Chhoti Khatu 92 mm, Lunkaransar (Bikaner) 91 mm, Goluvala (Hanumangarh) 92 mm, Sangaria 90 mm, and Mount Abu (Sirohi) 71 mm. Heavy rainfall also occurred in Ajmer, Dausa, Dholpur, Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Jhunjhunu, among other districts.
According to the Disaster Management Department, 93 people have died in rain-related incidents across the state from 15 June to 25 August this monsoon season. Of these, 46 people died due to being swept away or drowning, 24 due to lightning, and the rest in other incidents. A total of 51 people have been injured. The families of the deceased will receive an ex-gratia amount of ₹4 lakh each. For relief and rescue operations, 57 SDRF and 7 NDRF teams have been deployed, and Civil Defence teams are active in all districts. So far, 792 people have been rescued to safety.
According to the Meteorological Centre, the monsoon trough currently passes through Bikaner, Jaipur, Gwalior, and Prayagraj. A cyclonic circulation is also active over Rajasthan, leading to the continuation of heavy rainfall in the state for the next three days.
