Chandigarh, April 27: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini stated on Sunday that the dream of a ‘Developed India’ envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi can only be realized through active participation and labor empowerment by 2047.
He highlighted that the strength of both national and state economies fundamentally relies on the hard work and dedication of workers, whose contributions are propelling India towards becoming a developed nation.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while addressing a state-level labor awareness and appreciation event at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Gurugram.
In response to the Indian Workers Union’s demand for a dedicated welfare system for auto drivers and other drivers, CM Saini announced that the state government will establish a State Social Security Board aimed at ensuring the social and economic upliftment of organized workers.
He mentioned that this board will also extend social security benefits to auto drivers and other drivers.
Referring to the previously announced service security framework, the Chief Minister stated that the process of issuing appointment letters is ongoing. He assured that all eligible employees would receive their appointment letters by June 15, thereby strengthening employment security and institutional transparency.
Highlighting a historic reform, CM Saini noted that Haryana has become the first state in the country to implement a 35% increase in the minimum base salary under the provisions of the Wage Code.
Analyzing salary trends, he revealed that the minimum wage was ₹2,903 in 2005 and increased to ₹6,289 by 2014. Currently, under the present state government’s tenure, the minimum wage has reached ₹19,425.
Over the past decade, wages have nearly doubled, and in the last eleven years, they have increased more than threefold, reflecting the state government’s ongoing commitment to labor welfare and inclusive economic development.
The Chief Minister further added that the central government has launched the ‘e-Shram’ portal for the registration of unorganized sector workers.
In Haryana, over 5.432 million workers are registered on the portal, while 4.5 lakh establishments in the organized sector have 3.358 million workers registered.
