Gurjeet Singh Khalsa Ends 18-Month Protest from Telecom Tower in Mumbai

Mumbai, April 24: Gurjeet Singh Khalsa has concluded his protest after 18 months atop a telecom tower in the Samana area of Patiala, Punjab. His demonstration was aimed at demanding stringent laws against sacrilege. On Friday morning, he was safely brought down from the 400-foot structure.

Khalsa had been expressing his dissent from such a height for an extended period, which was quite surprising. Authorities made several attempts to persuade him to descend, but he remained steadfast in his demands. He insisted that he would not come down until the government enacted strict laws regarding sacrilege cases.

The protest ended following the Punjab government’s enactment of the Jagat Jyot Shri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Act 2026. After this law was implemented, Khalsa felt his demands had been met and decided to leave the tower.

On Friday morning, district administration, Punjab police, and fire brigade teams arrived at the scene and carefully assisted him down. Fortunately, they succeeded in bringing him down safely after such a long duration.

Upon descending, Gurjeet Singh Khalsa expressed gratitude to the government and administration. He acknowledged that the law was created with the needs of the community in mind, for which he was thankful. He shared that he had safely descended after 18 months and 12 days, expressing his thanks in a religious manner with the phrase, “Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh,” attributing his success to divine grace.

With this event, the ongoing religious struggle in Samana has also come to an end. This matter had been a topic of discussion for quite some time, and its peaceful resolution has brought relief to the administration.
