Rayagada, June 14: On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Fourth Battalion organized a voluntary blood donation camp in Rayagada, Odisha. Led by Commandant Firoz Kujur, the camp aimed to support the local blood bank and promote regular blood donation. A total of 25 units of blood were collected during the event.
The program commenced with Commandant Firoz Kujur donating blood himself, inspiring many soldiers and their families to participate. Following his lead, a significant number of CRPF personnel and their relatives voluntarily donated blood.
In an interview with a news agency, Commandant Kujur emphasized that blood donation is a noble service that can save lives in times of need. He encouraged the families of soldiers to actively participate in such social initiatives. Since 2007, the CRPF has been responsible for security in Naxal-affected areas and has consistently played an active role in community service.
The Rayagada District Red Cross Society has been facing challenges related to blood shortages. Therefore, such camps are considered crucial in addressing this issue.
Commandant Kujur has also been actively supporting the district hospital and other medical needs, ensuring timely blood availability for patients in emergencies.
At the end of the camp, all blood donors were awarded certificates and refreshments. Notable attendees included Commandant Kujur’s wife Manjula Toppo, Second-in-Command (Administration) Prabhakar Upadhyay, Second-in-Command (Operations) Sanjay Kumar Raut, Medical Officer Dr. M. Gautami, and Dr. Gautam Patnaik from the Red Cross Society.
As the event concluded, all participants pledged to donate blood regularly and contribute to community service. The camp received local appreciation and is viewed as a significant step towards serving humanity.
