Gujarats Health Minister Highlights Swift Treatment Compared to Developed Nations

Gandhinagar, May 13: Gujarat’s Health Minister, Praful Pansheriya, emphasized the efficiency of the state’s healthcare system compared to those in developed countries. Speaking at the International Nurses Day celebration at GMERS Medical College and Civil Hospital, he noted that patients in countries like Canada and the United States often face long wait times for treatment. In contrast, Gujarat’s public health services provide rapid care.

The event was held to honor Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. Pansheriya stated that nursing is defined not only by technical skills but also by the ability to connect and communicate with patients. He highlighted that true nursing identity is rooted in service, dedication, and exemplary conduct. He stressed that patients require both medical treatment and emotional support in hospitals.

Discussing international health systems, he pointed out that despite advanced infrastructure in Canada and the U.S., patients frequently experience delays due to systematic waiting lists. He contrasted this with Gujarat’s emergency response system, which includes 108 ambulances and government hospitals designed to ensure timely intervention in critical cases.

The minister also referenced the COVID-19 pandemic, acknowledging the crucial role Gujarat’s nursing staff played in managing healthcare pressures during the crisis. He remarked that while healthcare systems in developed nations struggled, Gujarat’s nurses emerged as “thousands of Florence Nightingales,” saving lives during a challenging time.

Pansheriya concluded by praising the dedication of nurses who worked under difficult circumstances, significantly contributing to saving lives when many developed countries faced limitations in their healthcare services.
