Mumbai, September 2: Former Rajya Sabha MP and senior lawyer Majid Memon has sharply criticized Minister Nitesh Rane’s statements. He raised concerns over inflation and unemployment while questioning the government’s claims regarding GDP growth and demanded a fair investigation into the removal of names from the voter list.
Responding to Nitesh Rane’s remarks, Memon stated, “We should not give too much importance to Nitesh Rane’s statements. His comments are often irresponsible, provocative, and below acceptable standards. He consistently targets Muslims with his remarks. What he says is merely his opinion, which holds no value in our eyes.”
Regarding the government’s claim of a 7.8 percent GDP growth in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2026-27, Memon asserted that mere statistics do not improve the country’s situation. He remarked, “Even if the Prime Minister is patting himself on the back, one cannot claim that the country has improved based solely on GDP figures. The ground reality is different. Inflation, unemployment, and corruption have significantly increased. The government’s claims are limited to paper statistics, but the truth is something else.”
Memon expressed concern over the large-scale removal of names from the voter list. He stated, “It is unfortunate that such a large number of people have been removed from the election list. The opposition believes that names of voters who never support the BJP have been discarded to secure electoral victory. All opposition parties, including Congress, demand the appointment of retired judges to investigate the matter.”
He alleged, “In Bengal, all names of those who do not support the BJP have been removed from the voter list. In Maharashtra, two crore names have been taken out, stripping the largest voting rights. This is a violation of the Constitution.”
Commenting on the remarks directed at actress Swara, Memon said, “Swara is an activist actor and contributes significantly to social causes. When there are inaccuracies in a historical film, it is natural for comments to arise. The same has happened in Swara’s case.”
On the NEET paper leak issue, he emphasized the need for a fair investigation and urged that all individuals involved be identified. He also stressed the importance of protecting the religious rights of Muslim women and ensuring impartial investigations in all matters.
