Patna, September 2: The demand for increased security for Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan has intensified following threats to his life.
A seven-member delegation from LJP (Ram Vilas) met with Bihar’s Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar on Wednesday, urging immediate action regarding the matter.
Led by state president Vivek Vishwas, the delegation included Legislative Council member Ashraf Ansari and party MLA Raju Tiwari. They convened with the DGP at Sardar Patel Bhawan to discuss the threats received by Paswan, the police’s actions so far, and his current security arrangements.
Party leaders requested the police to swiftly identify the individual who issued the threats and take strict action against them. They also called for a review of Paswan’s security measures to enhance his protection.
After the meeting, Vivek Vishwas and Raju Tiwari stated that the police have taken the matter seriously. They reported that DGP Vinay Kumar assured the delegation of full cooperation and necessary actions.
According to party officials, Chirag Paswan received a death threat via a letter. The police are currently working to identify and locate the individual who sent this message.
LJP (Ram Vilas) has demanded immediate action against the person making threats and a comprehensive review of the central minister’s security arrangements. Previously, the party had also reached out to the Ministry of Home Affairs to enhance Paswan’s security.
The death threat against Chirag Paswan has raised concerns in political and administrative circles. Reports indicate that the Ministry of Food Processing Industries received an unsigned message claiming that Paswan would soon be killed by “radical terrorists,” mentioning two mobile numbers as well.
In response to this incident, Alok Kumar Singh, Additional Private Secretary to the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, wrote to the Central Home Secretary on September 1, demanding an immediate and thorough investigation into the source, authenticity, and circumstances surrounding the threat.
The letter emphasized that Chirag Paswan is currently provided with Z-category security by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
