Gandhinagar, May 30: India is rapidly advancing in modern infrastructure, multimodal connectivity, and the logistics sector. In this context, developing skilled and future-ready human resources has become a significant need for the country. Established on December 6, 2022, Gati Shakti University (GSU) in Vadodara is emerging as the first and only central university focused on transport and logistics in India.
In relation to the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC), GSU is showcasing its academic excellence, innovative capacity, and industry-based skill development model. Experts believe this conference will play a crucial role in establishing Vadodara as an emerging global center for knowledge, innovation, and investment.
Located in the Lalbagh area of Vadodara, this university goes beyond traditional education. GSU’s model is entirely industry-based and innovation-driven. It offers world-class education in future-oriented fields such as railway, aviation, maritime, road and highway, metro rail, supply chain, artificial intelligence, and smart mobility. Equipped with modern classrooms, state-of-the-art laboratories, research centers, and industry-based training facilities, this institution is preparing students for global careers. Additionally, the construction of a new campus in Vaghodia is underway.
Currently, over 1,000 students from more than 23 states across the country are pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs here. The university’s curriculum aligns with the Prime Minister’s Gati Shakti National Master Plan and the National Logistics Policy, supporting the country’s development goals.
GSU offers courses such as B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, and PhD. Programs in AI and Data Science, Aviation Engineering, and Maritime Engineering are equipping the next generation for a technology-driven economy. Furthermore, the university provides specialized training to over 1,100 officials from Indian Railways, defense forces, and friendly nations each year.
The university’s greatest strength lies in its practical teaching model. Students gain opportunities for industry internships, live projects, hands-on learning, and connections with training institutions of Indian Railways. This is why numerous national and international organizations, including Airbus, L&T, Siemens, Amazon, DRDO, SAP, Nokia, DFCCIL, the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force, the Indian Navy, and Monash University from Australia, have partnered with GSU.
In terms of employment, the university has shown impressive performance. More than 60 prestigious companies have participated in campus placements. GSU recorded an excellent placement rate of 91% in 2025 and 89% in 2026.
Experts believe that Gati Shakti University is not only preparing new leadership for the transport and logistics sector but also strengthening the national vision of ‘Developed India 2047.’ Through the upcoming VGRC, Vadodara’s educational, innovative, and investment potential is expected to gain new global recognition.
