
New Delhi/Gandhinagar: On the occasion of Republic Day, 16 officers and personnel from the Gujarat Police Force will be honoured with the President’s Police Medals in recognition of their distinguished and commendable service. The Ministry of Home Affairs announced this decision on Sunday.
The awards will be presented by President Droupadi Murmu during the national Republic Day ceremony on January 26.
According to the official list, two senior officers of the Indian Police Service (IPS) from the Gujarat cadre have been selected for the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM), one of the highest honours in police service.
The remaining 14 recipients will be awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) for their dedication and continuous contribution towards public duty.
The PSM will be conferred on Additional Director General of Police and current Additional Chief Secretary of Gujarat’s Home Department, Nipoon Torawane (IPS), and S.S. Raghuvanshi (IPS). Both officers have been recognised for their exceptional service and leadership in critical policing and administrative responsibilities.
The MSM awardees include officers and personnel from various Gujarat Police units such as the Intelligence Wing, State Surveillance Cell, Prison Department, Motor Transport Wing, Coastal Security Units, and city police forces of Ahmedabad, Surat, and Rajkot, along with the State Reserve Police Force.
The recipients range from senior officers to constables, highlighting their valuable contributions at both supervisory and operational levels.
Officials noted that the awards acknowledge exemplary performance in areas including anti-terrorism operations, intelligence activities, crime prevention, disaster management, prison reforms, and maintenance of law and order.
Director General of Police Dr. K.L.N. Rao congratulated all the medal recipients, stating that the honours reflect the professionalism and dedication of the Gujarat Police Force. He added that these awards will motivate personnel across the state to continue serving the public with commitment and integrity.
The Gujarat Home Department also extended its congratulations to the awardees.
