Ahmedabad, February 13: Gujarat’s Education Minister Pradyuman Vaja is in stable condition following a mild heart attack. He underwent emergency angioplasty at the U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Center, as confirmed by sources on Friday.

Vaja was admitted to the city’s cardiac institute after feeling unwell shortly after attending a public function at the Sabarmati Riverfront. Earlier, he participated in a program organized by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, where smart school projects were inaugurated, and outstanding teachers were awarded. He remained at the event until around 5:30 PM.

According to a source, the minister went to the hospital for a routine medical check-up after experiencing discomfort. During the examination, doctors discovered a blockage in one of his coronary arteries.

The source stated, “After diagnostic tests, a blockage was identified, and angioplasty was recommended immediately.” A stent was successfully placed during the procedure. Doctors have described the cardiac episode as minor and confirmed that the intervention was performed without any complications.

The source further noted, “The minister’s condition is currently stable, and he is under observation. He has been advised to rest completely for the next five days.” Vaja, who took office as Education Minister in October last year, is a resident of Ahmedabad and was previously a medical practitioner.

He holds an MBBS, DGO, and MD from Gujarat University and completed his LLB and LLM degrees in 2022. He was elected to the Gujarat Assembly from the Kodinar seat in the 2022 state elections.

Hospital officials stated that he will be monitored for the next few days for post-operative care.
