Gandhinagar, April 26: Jagdish Vishwakarma, the Gujarat BJP chief, has called on citizens across the state to actively participate in the upcoming local body elections. He emphasized that voting is a collective responsibility essential for strengthening democracy.

Speaking a day before the elections, Vishwakarma stated that local self-governance institutions are the foundation of democracy and urged citizens to engage enthusiastically in the electoral process.

He remarked, “Local self-governance institutions are the bedrock of democracy. As aware citizens, voting is our sacred duty. Every citizen’s vote is significant and fundamental to fortifying democracy.”

Highlighting civic responsibility, he added, “When every citizen understands their responsibility and votes, democracy becomes even more vibrant.”

Vishwakarma also called on youth, women, first-time voters, and all segments of society to participate in the elections and contribute to strengthening democratic traditions. He introduced the slogan “Vote First, Then Feast,” encouraging voters to head to polling stations with their families on election day.

The elections on April 26 will encompass a vast network of grassroots institutions, including 15 municipal corporations, 84 municipalities, 34 district panchayats, and 260 taluka panchayats across the state.

He urged voters to visit polling stations and inspire family members and neighbors to cast their votes, stating, “Every vote contributes to the development of local communities.”
