Greater Noida Outsourced Workers Protest for Pay Hike and Regularization

Greater Noida, June 15: Outsourced workers at the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Greater Noida staged a protest on Monday, demanding various rights. They called for a pay increase, regularization of their positions, and resolution of payment discrepancies while demonstrating within the institution’s premises and chanting slogans against the administration.

The protesting workers emphasized that they risked their lives to provide services during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, the administration had assured them of a pay raise and permanent positions. However, the workers claim that despite their contributions during the pandemic, no concrete actions have been taken regarding their demands.

Workers reported that their current salaries do not meet their needs. They noted that the amount shown on their salary slips is less than what is actually deposited into their bank accounts, leading to growing dissatisfaction among them. They expressed that it has become extremely difficult to support their families on low wages amid rising inflation.

The protesting employees demanded that they be granted permanent status, receive a fair pay increase, and that an impartial investigation be conducted into the alleged discrepancies in salary payments.

They stated that they have been raising their issues through various channels for a long time, but satisfactory resolutions have yet to be achieved.

During the protest, the workers warned that if their demands are not positively addressed soon, they will escalate their movement. They indicated that large-scale protests could be organized, placing the responsibility on the administration.

Management has assured the workers that their issues are being taken seriously and that efforts will be made to resolve them in accordance with regulations. Some of the workers’ demands have been accepted, and processes to fulfill them will begin soon. However, certain demands are linked to government-level decisions, which will be discussed with the relevant departments and officials.
