
Aizawl, April 18: The Governor of Mizoram, General Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd.), highlighted the importance of balanced development during a recent event. He emphasized the need to strengthen infrastructure in areas bordering international and state boundaries.
While flagging off a Basic Life Support Ambulance (BLSA), the Governor stressed the necessity of focusing on border regions. Residents in these areas often face significant challenges due to limited access to essential services.
He praised NBCC (India) Limited for donating a fully equipped ambulance to Sissuri village, calling it a crucial step towards meeting the immediate healthcare needs of remote border communities.
The Governor also mentioned that approval has been granted for a 189-kilometer fence along the India-Bangladesh border in Mizoram. Of this, NBCC (India) Limited has already completed 98 kilometers, with ongoing work in the Longtlai district.
Furthermore, he noted that the company recently handed over a 55-kilometer border fence and five Border Outposts (BOPs) in the Dampa Tiger Reserve area of Mamit district.
This ambulance, designated for Sissuri village located along the India-Bangladesh border in the Mamit Aspirational District, was purchased under NBCC (India) Limited’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The Governor urged NBCC to utilize its best practices and modern technologies to enhance the quality of life for people in smaller states like Mizoram. He acknowledged the central government’s special focus on Aspirational Districts and appealed to the company to continue prioritizing development in border areas, given its significant role in infrastructure projects.
R. Lalthangliana, the MLA from Dampa Assembly constituency, welcomed the ambulance as a positive initiative for Sissuri village and surrounding areas. He expressed gratitude to NBCC (India) Limited and hoped that the facility would be effectively utilized for the benefit of local residents.
Gyanranjan Samal, General Manager and Head of the Northeast Region for NBCC (India), provided insights into the company’s initiatives and achievements. Established in 1960, NBCC (India) Limited operates as a public sector undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The company plays a vital role as a project management consultant (PMC) in executing large-scale infrastructure development projects for the central government.
