New Delhi, April 19: NDA leaders have accused the opposition of working against women’s rights due to the failure to pass the Women’s Reservation Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha. They stated that this behavior is nothing new for the opposition.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh targeted the opposition parties, claiming that the issue of women’s reservation has been pending for the last 40 years. He asserted that Congress and other parties have never seriously attempted to resolve it. Singh alleged that the ‘INDI Alliance’ parties aim to deny women their rightful reservation. He questioned the situation of the DMK and its members in South India, especially when the Prime Minister had proposed a formula ensuring that no state’s seats would be reduced.
Giriraj Singh remarked, “What will they reveal about us? They claim that delimitation occurred in Kashmir and Assam. Yes, delimitation happened there, but our government was not formed, although it should have been. Delimitation was necessary at that time.”
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak stated, “Women across the country and the state will never forgive Congress and the Samajwadi Party. The opposition will face the consequences. They have nothing to say and only aim to mislead through meaningless statements, but the women of the nation and the public understand the truth well.”
Pathak reiterated, “The opposition has nothing to say. They only want to mislead with absurd statements. However, the women of the nation and the public understand the truth clearly. Women will never forgive Congress and the Samajwadi Party. The opposition will have to face the repercussions.”
In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address, Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar stated, “The Prime Minister’s aim was to ensure constitutional reservation for women, as envisioned by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, to guarantee equal participation for half the population. However, leaders from Congress, the Samajwadi Party, and other parties have kept the Women’s Reservation Bill pending for 40 years, effectively stalling it without approval.”
