Lucknow, April 6: In a significant move to modernize technical education in Uttar Pradesh, Governor Anandiben Patel has outlined a comprehensive plan. This initiative aims to align education with employment opportunities and future needs. She emphasized the introduction of new courses in emerging fields such as drone repair, defense, and irrigation technology, along with timely filling of vacant positions and keeping institutions technologically updated.
A review meeting was held on Monday at Jan Bhawan, Lucknow, chaired by Governor Anandiben Patel, who is also the Chancellor of state universities. The meeting included principals from government and funded colleges affiliated with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University. Directors from 16 technical institutions presented progress reports covering student enrollment, teacher-student ratios, technical courses, laboratory conditions, sports activities, and details of vacant positions.
During the review, the Governor stressed the importance of enhancing academic quality, maintaining a balanced teacher-student ratio, and filling both academic and non-academic vacancies promptly. She particularly highlighted the need to make technical education practical and employment-oriented.
Patel urged institutions to introduce timely new courses and revise existing ones. She pointed out the necessity of launching courses related to drone repair, irrigation technology, and defense sectors, aiming to prepare skilled human resources for industries linked to Uttar Pradesh’s Defense Corridor.
The Governor also directed efforts to enrich libraries, organize study tours for teachers, and ensure regular monitoring of technical institutions. She expressed concern over the enrollment of students from reserved categories and emphasized the need for special coaching, counseling, and flexible cut-off measures. To improve hostel facilities, she called for transparency in mess operations and student participation. Additionally, she advocated for increased expert involvement through workshops and seminars and establishing communication with central government departments.
Patel noted that institutions must adopt a visionary approach, considering the next 25 years. She encouraged promoting technological innovations to solve local problems, establishing drone centers, and utilizing CSR funds effectively.
Technical Education Minister Ashish Patel remarked that institutions with imbalanced teacher-student ratios should prioritize improvements. He stressed the effective use of available human resources and the necessity of introducing new technical courses.
