New Delhi, April 10: A police encounter occurred in the Krishna Nagar area of Lucknow, resulting in the arrest of a notorious criminal. The incident took place late at night near Asharam Colony on Manas Nagar Road while police were conducting checks on suspicious individuals.
Authorities had received prior information about the presence of criminals in the area. Acting on this intel, the police team initiated checks when they spotted a suspicious young man. When the police signaled him to stop, he attempted to flee. During his escape, he fell and, realizing he was cornered, opened fire on the police. In response, the police fired back in self-defense, injuring the suspect in the leg.
The injured suspect was identified as Vipin, a resident of Unnao district, who had a bounty of ₹25,000 on his head. He was promptly taken to a hospital for treatment. According to police reports, Vipin had been involved in significant thefts and robberies in Lucknow and was wanted in multiple cases.
Investigations revealed that there were over 20 registered cases against Vipin across various police stations in Lucknow, including charges of theft, gang-related activities, and other serious offenses. Notably, he was linked to three major theft incidents in the Krishna Nagar area that occurred in February. Taking these incidents seriously, police reviewed around 500 CCTV footage clips and identified suspects based on electronic evidence.
Previously, police had arrested another suspect in this case, while Vipin and his accomplice, Kuldeep Yadav, were on the run, each with a bounty of ₹25,000. With Vipin’s arrest, police are now actively searching for Kuldeep.
During the encounter, police recovered a firearm, live and spent cartridges, jewelry resembling gold chains and rings, and a Pulsar motorcycle from Vipin. Authorities believe these items may be connected to the thefts.
