Patna, August 3: A Congress fact-finding team, led by MP Imran Pratapgarhi, has made serious allegations regarding the recent AK-47 firing incident in Siwan. He stated that children were specifically targeted during the shooting, and the government is attempting to suppress the voices of the youth.
In an interview with a news agency, Pratapgarhi remarked, “The sound of the AK-47 is echoing worldwide, yet three children were injured. The bullets that hit them were not from an AK-47 but from a pistol. This means that there was also firing from a pistol, and the bullets struck the children directly. One child was shot in the leg, while two others were hit in the neck and throat, which is a very serious matter.”
He further explained, “Our team met with the injured children. Alongside me were MPs Manoj Ram, Vikrant Bhuria, and Vinod Jakhar from Sasaram. Listening to the pain and suffering of these children makes it clear that this movement is being brutally crushed, as if there was an intent to kill. We are taking all these facts with us to present before Rahul Gandhi. I am confident that Rahul will soon meet the victims, and this issue will also be raised in Parliament.”
Pratapgarhi criticized the government, asserting that there is an attempt to crush the youth, who are considered the country’s greatest strength. He referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statements, questioning, “Why does the government want to suppress the strength of the nation? In any country, the youth are the greatest asset. The direction in which the youth move is the direction in which the world moves, yet the government seeks to suppress this youth with AK-47s, pellet guns, pistols, tear gas, and batons.”
He cited the thoughts of Swami Vivekananda, stating, “The youth are the backbone of nation-building. Swami Vivekananda said that the youth of the country determine the future of the nation through education and character, but here, instead of education and employment, they are being met with bullets. They will not succeed in this.”
Pratapgarhi concluded by emphasizing, “The government must understand that while they have the freedom to govern, it does not mean they can resort to gunfire. The use of weapons to suppress dissent in a democracy will not be tolerated.”
