Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, August 3: The online movement led by Abhijit Dipke, known as the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP), is set to hold a crucial core committee meeting on August 5. The meeting will focus on whether to enter the political arena, according to sources on Sunday.
An official stated that Dipke plans to convene members at his residence to develop future strategies based on feedback received from supporters across various states.
CJP officials noted that the recent successful protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi regarding the NEET paper leak, which led to the resignation of the then Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, has raised expectations for Dipke’s organization.
Following the core committee meeting on August 5, Dipke will hold a press conference to discuss the outcomes of the discussions.
The agenda for the meeting has been clearly defined: to decide on CJP’s future action plan.
After the protests in Delhi, Dipke indicated in a media interaction that he intends to continue the CJP movement as a “response group” to address issues affecting students and youth.
Reiterating his commitment to peaceful and democratic methods, Dipke has clarified in recent days that CJP will neither allow any political party to use its platform to target the government nor will it join any political organization.
Experts believe that Dipke and CJP face the new challenge of sustaining movements based on students’ legitimate grievances while continuing to work towards reforms in the education sector.
Amid allegations of external forces playing a role in amplifying the CJP movement, experts argue that such forces cannot create public discontent where it does not exist. However, they can, in certain circumstances, exacerbate existing grievances and accelerate the process of uniting people.
The recent scale and pace of public mobilization, the CJP’s extensive reach on social media, high youth participation, and the sustained momentum of the movement have raised questions in various circles about whether this represents something larger than domestic protests.
