Ranchi, August 15: On the occasion of Independence Day, BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address and Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s speech. He emphasized that Prime Minister Modi has consistently focused on the development of youth and providing them with opportunities. Shahdev also criticized the state government regarding women’s reservation, urban naxalism, and the ongoing student protests in Jharkhand.
Shahdev stated that India boasts the world’s largest youth population, and the central government aims to benefit them through various schemes. He highlighted the Mudra scheme, noting that approximately 450 million loans have been disbursed, allowing young entrepreneurs to start businesses without collateral. He also mentioned Stand-Up India and innovation-related initiatives as steps to promote new ideas among the youth.
Regarding women’s reservation, Shahdev pointed out that the central government has provisioned for 33% reservation for women. He accused the Congress, Samajwadi Party, and RJD of not supporting the amendment efforts. Meanwhile, PM Modi is committed to ensuring women receive their rightful share, and the central government will continue its efforts in this direction.
On PM Modi’s comments about ‘urban naxals,’ Shahdev remarked that security forces have significantly diminished the influence of naxalism in the country. He asserted that vigilance is now required against those who support or propagate naxalite ideologies from urban areas. It is essential to expose those providing political protection to such elements.
In response to the notice issued to Rahul Gandhi by the Lok Sabha Privileges Committee, Shahdev stated that unparliamentary language and accusations disrupt parliamentary decorum. He insisted that Gandhi should take responsibility for his statements and that the BJP believes action should be taken regarding his membership.
Concerning the student protests in Jharkhand, Shahdev mentioned that the BJP is providing only moral support to the students. He alleged that the government has not taken the students’ demands seriously. According to him, serious charges, such as attempted murder, have been filed against students, which he described as an attempt to suppress their movement. He characterized Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s Independence Day speech as ‘youth-centric’ but raised questions about the claims of transparency in the examination system.
Shahdev pointed out that when students are protesting just a kilometer from the Chief Minister’s residence, the government should engage with them directly instead of seeking online feedback and suggestions.
He referenced the alleged paper leak cases related to JSSC-CGL and JPSC, questioning the government’s claims of transparency when the examinations have been mired in controversy and require investigation. He asserted that the resolution of students’ issues should come through dialogue and fair investigations.
