Lucknow, August 2: Uttar Pradesh‘s Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has launched a strong attack on the opposition regarding the ongoing Monsoon Session of the Assembly, the controversy involving Purnia MP Pappu Yadav, and the issue of delimitation. He stated that the government is prepared to discuss every issue in the House and urged the opposition to fulfill its responsibility by engaging in meaningful debate.
Maurya emphasized the importance of the Assembly session for all elected representatives. He noted that the opposition should raise public-related issues in the House, and the government is fully ready to respond. He insisted that the time in the House should not be wasted on disruptions but should focus on constructive discussions on public interest matters. He appealed to all parties to adhere to democratic traditions and play a positive role.
In response to the complaint lodged against MP Pappu Yadav, the Deputy Chief Minister condemned the act as highly reprehensible, disgusting, and criminal, akin to insulting saints, devotees of Lord Ram, and the Hindu community. He called for the registration of an FIR under the law and strict action against the culprits.
Maurya also targeted opposition leaders, accusing them of supporting Pappu Yadav’s alleged actions. He mentioned that leaders like Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, and MP Dimple Yadav have backed Yadav’s actions, which he deemed an insult to Hindus, the saint community, and devotees of Lord Ram. He affirmed that the BJP supports legal action in this matter.
On the issues of delimitation and women’s reservation, the Deputy Chief Minister criticized the opposition. He accused Rahul Gandhi of attempting to obstruct the central government’s significant and positive decisions for the nation. He explained that proposals related to women’s reservation and delimitation aim to increase the number of Lok Sabha seats by nearly 50% across all states, ensuring that no state’s seats will decrease.
He argued that there is no justification for opposing delimitation in this context and that all political parties should support it. MPs from various parties will make appropriate decisions with national interest in mind.
