Lucknow, August 2: The ‘Drug-Free Youth, Developed India’ nationwide initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has gained momentum in Uttar Pradesh, thanks to Governor Anandiben Patel’s efforts. A live broadcast of the Prime Minister’s campaign launch was held at Jan Bhawan on Sunday. The event aimed to raise awareness among youth about the harmful effects of drug use and to enhance public participation across the state.
Under Governor Patel’s inspiration, officials and staff at Jan Bhawan watched the Prime Minister’s address live. This campaign is part of the Prime Minister’s vision for a ‘Developed India by 2047’ and a ‘Drug-Free India.’
Initiated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the ‘My India’ program is being conducted from July 16 to August 15, 2026, across universities and colleges under the theme of ‘Developed India Youth Connect Program.’
In line with this, a special drug awareness campaign is being conducted at Jan Bhawan from July 26 to August 18, inspired by the Governor. The campaign includes morning rallies, awareness marches, seminars on drug de-addiction, and dialogue programs.
Special awareness programs on the adverse effects of drugs have also been organized with the support of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF). In the coming days, bicycle awareness rallies in drug-affected areas, student marches from educational institutions, street plays, painting and slogan competitions, exhibitions, oath-taking ceremonies, and special pledge programs on Independence Day will be held.
Participants will include the Lucknow Police, NCB, ANTF, officials from Jan Bhawan, and students from various educational institutions.
The aim of this campaign, initiated by the Prime Minister, is to make youth aware of the harmful effects of drugs and to encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Over the next 100 weeks, awareness programs will be held every Sunday across the country to transform drug de-addiction into a public movement.
The campaign will ensure active participation from ‘My India,’ the National Service Scheme (NSS), schools, colleges, universities, youth clubs, NGOs, and spiritual organizations, effectively spreading the resolve for a drug-free India to every citizen.
