Government Announces MSP for Kharif Crops for 2026-27

New Delhi, May 13: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has announced the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 14 Kharif crops for the marketing season 2026-27.

The government has increased the MSP for sunflower seeds to ₹8,343 per quintal, up by ₹622 from ₹7,721 per quintal in 2025-26.

For cotton, the MSP has been raised by ₹557 to ₹8,267 per quintal, compared to last year’s ₹7,710.

The MSP for rice has been increased from ₹2,369 per quintal to ₹2,441 per quintal. Similarly, the MSP for millet has risen from ₹2,775 per quintal to ₹2,900 per quintal, and for ragi, it has gone up from ₹4,886 per quintal to ₹5,205 per quintal.

The government has also raised the MSP for pulses. The MSP for arhar has been increased by ₹450 to ₹8,450 per quintal, up from ₹8,000 last year.

For urad, the MSP has been raised by ₹400 to ₹8,200 per quintal, compared to ₹7,800 last year. Additionally, the MSP for peanuts has increased from ₹7,263 per quintal to ₹7,517 per quintal.

This increase in MSP for Kharif crops aligns with the announcement made in the 2018-19 central budget to set MSP at least 1.5 times the all-India weighted average production cost. As a result, farmers are expected to gain the highest profit margins from moong (61%), followed by millet (56%), maize (56%), and arhar (54%). For the remaining crops, the anticipated profit margin for farmers is estimated to be around 50%.
