New Delhi, August 29: The price of compressed natural gas (CNG) in Delhi-NCR has increased by ₹3.89 per kilogram. The revised rates took effect at 6 AM today, as announced by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the primary urban gas distributor in the National Capital Region.
Following this increase, the price of CNG in Delhi has risen from ₹83.09 to ₹86.98 per kilogram. These new rates will also apply to several neighboring cities, including Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram.
In Noida and Ghaziabad, the CNG price is now set at ₹95.59 per kilogram, while in Gurugram, the new price stands at ₹92.01 per kilogram.
This latest hike is expected to place additional pressure on drivers and commercial vehicle operators who heavily rely on CNG. Auto-rickshaws, taxis, app-based cab services, and other commercial transport operators may face increased fuel costs due to this adjustment. Private car owners using CNG will also incur higher expenses at the pump.
This increase follows a trend of rising CNG prices in recent months. In May 2026, IGL announced another increase of ₹2 per kilogram in Delhi, shortly after a ₹1 per kilogram hike that took effect on May 26, as CNG prices continued to escalate.
The public sector gas distribution company IGL stated that international liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices remain “significantly high,” and the rising costs are being felt acutely. The company emphasized that the ₹3.89 per kilogram increase was necessary to partially offset the rising input gas costs and ensure a continuous and reliable supply of CNG to consumers.
Frequent price hikes have raised concerns among transport operators, especially in metropolitan areas where CNG-powered vehicles are a crucial part of the public and commercial transport network.
