New Delhi, August 29: CNG prices in the Delhi-NCR region have risen by ₹3.89 per kilogram. The revised rates took effect at 6 AM on Saturday. This increase was announced by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the primary urban gas distributor in the National Capital Region.
An auto-rickshaw driver shared with a news agency, “CNG is not only used by auto-rickshaws but also by cars, bikes, and buses. Therefore, the price hike affects everyone. We inform passengers about the increased gas prices, and they tend to pay a little more in fare.”
Another auto-rickshaw driver commented, “What can we say about this? It’s a problem for the entire public. We are not happy with how the government is managing things. With the new price, it will now be ₹86.98 per kilogram. What can we do? This creates difficulties for auto-rickshaw drivers and other vehicle operators. However, our passengers pay the same fare, whether they book online or otherwise.”
The driver added, “Everything is becoming more expensive. Sometimes sugar prices rise, sometimes vegetables, and onions too. This does not affect the wealthy but hits the poor hard. The government should reconsider. The way inflation is rising is not good for the country.”
He noted that owners of private vehicles running on CNG will also face increased fuel costs. Amidst rising prices, the cost of fuel is becoming a significant concern for those operating CNG vehicles in Delhi-NCR. Consequently, auto drivers may begin to raise their fares in the coming days, impacting everyone.
Following this increase, CNG prices in Delhi have now escalated from ₹83.09 per kilogram to ₹86.98 per kilogram.
