Police Encounter in Modinagar: One Injured, Another Arrested

Ghaziabad, August 29: A police encounter occurred in the Modinagar area of Ghaziabad during a routine vehicle check. One suspect was shot in the leg, while another was apprehended at the scene. Both individuals are accused of involvement in a recent robbery of a woman in Modinagar.

According to police reports, the team was conducting regular vehicle checks when they spotted two suspicious youths on a motorcycle. Upon signaling them to stop, the suspects attempted to flee in the opposite direction, prompting the police to pursue them.

During the chase, the motorcycle lost balance and skidded due to bricks on the road. The suspects then fired at the police with a .315 bore pistol. In response, the police returned fire, injuring one of the suspects in the leg.

Both suspects were quickly apprehended by the police. The injured suspect was rushed to a hospital for treatment. During interrogation, he identified himself as Farooq, while his accomplice was named Qasim. Police confirmed that both are residents of Meerut.

Authorities recovered gold earrings stolen from the woman, a .315 bore pistol, cartridges, and the motorcycle used in the crime from the suspects. Following this recovery, police are investigating the suspects’ criminal records and potential involvement in other incidents.

SP Verma informed reporters that the suspects fled upon noticing the police. After losing control of their motorcycle, they opened fire, leading to the injury of one suspect. Initial inquiries have confirmed their identities as Farooq and Qasim, both hailing from Meerut.

The injured suspect is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. Once police procedures are completed, both suspects will be processed for judicial custody.
