(Kiran News) — Go Spiritual, a charitable spiritual organisation committed to philanthropy, spiritual awareness, and animal welfare, has voiced concern over the Supreme Court of India’s recent order to capture and permanently detain all stray dogs in New Delhi. While acknowledging the need for public safety amid rising stray dog attacks, the organisation is calling for compassionate, non-violent alternatives that reflect India’s tradition of Ahimsa (non-violence) and respect for all living beings.

Supreme Court Order and Concerns
On Monday, the Supreme Court directed that all stray dogs in the capital be captured and housed in shelters within eight weeks, citing failures in the Animal Birth Control (ABC) programme. The decision followed incidents such as the rabies-related death of a six-year-old girl in July.
Go Spiritual warns that permanent detention without adequate resources could lead to animal suffering. “All souls are interconnected, and kindness toward animals is vital for spiritual growth,” said Sonu Tyagi, Founder of Go Spiritual and Approach Entertainment. “Instead of mass displacement, we must focus on sterilisation, vaccination, and community-based care.”
Call for Humane Solutions
The organisation is urging the Supreme Court, Delhi government, and stakeholders to:
-
Enhance the ABC programme with better funding for sterilisation and vaccination.
-
Develop well-equipped shelters for rehabilitation, not confinement.
-
Launch awareness drives promoting responsible coexistence with strays.
-
Partner with NGOs for community feeding and education initiatives, similar to West Bengal’s Paschim Banga Samagra Shiksha Mission, which teaches children kindness through feeding stray dogs.
Go Spiritual’s Advocacy and Campaigns
Go Spiritual runs the ‘Go Vegetarian’ campaign, relaunched annually on World Vegetarian Day, to promote plant-based diets and compassion for animals. It has also spoken against cruelty, such as a recent goat sacrifice during a film release, and supports food distribution programmes for animals.
The organisation draws inspiration from leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Swami Vivekananda, showcased in its acclaimed web series Two Great Masters on MX Player. Tyagi emphasised, “True spirituality demands we treat stray dogs and all animals as beings deserving dignity and care.”
