Beijing, June 8: Russia’s Culture Minister, Olga Borisovna Lyubimova, recently announced that the country will enhance its film collaboration with China.
During the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Lyubimova told reporters that the Chinese film industry and economy are leading globally. Chinese filmmakers prioritize not only the economic performance of films but also the values, ethics, and traditions embedded in their scripts. Russian filmmakers are now focused on developing the Chinese market, where box office performance is not the only consideration. Entering the Chinese market is seen as a significant achievement for Russian cinema.
Lyubimova emphasized the importance of co-produced films between Russia and China. She mentioned that both nations have finalized relevant cooperation documents. The film “Red Silk,” a product of this collaboration, has already been released, and the shooting for its sequel, “Black Silk,” has been completed in Russia.
Furthermore, Lyubimova noted that audiences in both countries enjoy comedies. Screenwriters from Russia and China should understand each other’s humor styles to create popular films that appeal to various age groups.
