Netanyahu Claims Hezbollah is Retreating Amid Ongoing Attacks in Lebanon

Tel Aviv, June 8: In the latest cabinet meeting held weekly in Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the Israeli army continues its operations against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. He warned that Israel would respond forcefully to any attacks from the terrorist group, even amidst a ceasefire. Netanyahu asserted that Hezbollah is retreating.

In a video shared from his office, Netanyahu stated, “We will not allow any firing on our territory or our communities, and we will act accordingly.” He added that the military is actively working to dismantle Hezbollah’s infrastructure in villages near the border.

“We are launching very strong attacks against them, and we know that Hezbollah is retreating,” Netanyahu remarked.

Earlier, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported intercepting two rockets fired towards northern Israel. This marked the first rocket attack from Hezbollah since Wednesday and the first since the new ceasefire was implemented last week.

Despite the renewed ceasefire, Israeli soldiers operating in southern Lebanon have faced repeated attacks.

Prime Minister Netanyahu is currently consulting with Defense Minister Israel Katz and defense establishment leaders regarding the conflict in Lebanon, especially in light of threats from Iran to retaliate against attacks on Beirut.

A post from Netanyahu’s office on the social media platform X stated, “According to the directives of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, the IDF has attacked a terrorist headquarters in the Dahieh district of Beirut in response to Hezbollah’s gunfire into Israeli territory.”

Iranian officials have threatened to respond to Israel’s attacks targeting Hezbollah in Dahieh, labeling them a violation of the ceasefire agreement with the United States.
