Gautam Adani Visits Mahudi Jain Temple with Family Ahead of Paryushan Festival

Ahmedabad, August 19: Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, visited the renowned Mahudi Jain Temple in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on Wednesday. He was accompanied by his wife, Preeti Adani, their eldest son, Karan Adani, and daughter-in-law, Paridhi Adani.

The Adani family made this visit as preparations for the Jain community’s Paryushan festival, starting September 8, are in full swing.

This visit comes just days after legal proceedings involving Adani, his nephew, and Sagar Adani, Executive Director of Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), were permanently dismissed on August 10.

For Gautam Adani, this trip holds a deep personal significance tied to the principle of ‘seva,’ or selfless service. This value has consistently guided his contributions to society.

His philosophy, “Seva hi sadhana hai,” meaning selfless service is the highest form of worship, reflects his commitment to serving communities and creating opportunities to improve people’s lives.

Historically known as Madhupuri, Mahudi is a major pilgrimage site for the Shwetambar Jain community. The temple complex houses shrines for all 24 Jain Tirthankaras and a separate temple for Shri Ghantakarna Mahavir, regarded as one of the protectors of Jainism. Unlike the Tirthankaras, Ghantakarna Mahavir is worshipped as a guardian deity, with devotees seeking his blessings for strength during challenging times.

The Paryushan festival will be celebrated from September 8 to 15, 2026, and is one of the most significant festivals in the Shwetambar Jain tradition. This period of prayer, fasting, self-discipline, and reflection culminates on September 15 with ‘Samvatsari,’ the festival of forgiveness. On this day, Jain followers seek forgiveness from all living beings and forgive others, reflecting on their actions while letting go of past grievances.
