Mumbai, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : Investors in Mumbai are witnessing mixed trading in gold and silver as they await crucial U.S. inflation data. The data is anticipated to influence market movements significantly.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold for the October 5, 2026 contract opened at ₹153,581 per 10 grams, slightly lower than the previous closing price of ₹153,763 per 10 grams. Currently, gold is trading at ₹154,010, reflecting a gain of ₹247 or 0.16%. During the session, gold prices fluctuated, hitting a low of ₹153,581 and a high of ₹154,450 per 10 grams.
In contrast, silver is experiencing a downward trend. The December 4, 2026 contract for silver opened at ₹243,292 per kilogram, down from its last closing of ₹244,213 per kilogram. Presently, silver is priced at ₹243,690, showing a decline of ₹523 or 0.21%. Throughout the trading session, silver has seen a low of ₹242,726 and a high of ₹244,300 per kilogram.
Internationally, gold and silver are also trading mixed. On COMEX, gold is up by 0.17% at $4,467 per ounce, while silver has dropped by 0.60% to $68.2 per ounce. This indicates limited price movements for both precious metals in global markets.
Experts attribute the restrained trading in gold and silver to investor caution ahead of the U.S. inflation data, which is set to be released on September 11. They suggest that if inflation exceeds expectations, gold may face pressure, as it could increase the likelihood of interest rate hikes during the Federal Reserve’s upcoming meeting.
